About the Role
Join our dynamic team as an IT Support and Systems Engineer, where your primary role is to provide comprehensive IT services, including system maintenance, user support with a focus on Microsoft-based systems, while also assisting in IT security, requiring strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
You will work with the Head of IT to develop and maintain systems to meet business requirements and to provide user and hardware support. A secondary role will be to assist the IT Security Manager.
The successful candidate will be based at TRL Headquarters in Kochi in Kerala, India with hybrid working arrangements. The working day will be based on UK business hours.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Maintain and support business systems and corporate applications
Provide remote user support including hardware
Take responsibility for and lead IT projects as required
Take responsibility for, manage and monitor Microsoft Teams
Identify and suggest solutions for business needs
Provide technical assurance to IT projects as needed
Assist with the administration of IT security systems
Produce regular status reports
Manage and maintain the enterprise backup systems
To support research project requirements where appropriate
Skills & Experience
Team working ability with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple work streams with attention to detail
Strong interpersonal communication skills across all levels within the business
Business-focussed (not technology driven)
Reliable and motivated with the ability to think innovatively and work on own initiative whilst remaining a team player
Proficient in the following:
Microsoft 365 and Azure including administrative tasks (Teams, SharePoint, Intune)
Knowledge of networks, network storage systems and backup solutions
User 1st and 2nd line support
Computer hardware support
Active Directory management
Virtualisation and Exchange
Windows Client support
Scripting (PowerShell and VBS)
Backup and Storage Systems
Microsoft Project and IT Security products and processes would be an advantage.
